Murder Mystery Night - Friday 18th January 2013
Here's the chance for everybody to try their hand at a bit of sleuthing in an attempt to try and find out which one of our regulars has in fact committed a terrible deed
!
Intrigue, skulduggery and hilarity will be in abundance at the Hillsborough Hotel on Friday 18th January, for a classic whodunnit called 'MURDER BY CANDELIGHT'.
The room has been booked from 7pm, and the cost per person will be £3, with this to include a pie and peas supper which will be served at 8pm.
Details of the charachters and the players will be revealed shortly................

Charachters and Setting
It is 1848. The Dowage Lady Withering is found dead at the stately home Withering Depths on the Torkshire Moors. The famous withering jewels are missing. Those present at the dinner party include the murderer:
Lord Selby Withering
Sir Clifforde Heath-Clifforde
Suzanna Heath-Clifforde
Emily Lloyd Bridges
Lady Caroline Mouton
Reverend Adam Brethren
Jane Eyrie
Carlos Chickensi
Unsavoury charachters the lot of them in one way or another, but which one of them had the motive and the means to murder her ladyship? More information about the motley crew will follow shortly.........

Andrea and me sampled the pie and peas recently and they were really nice. As you say the food is always good there.

I've been asked today whether it would be ok for members of the audience to dress up in period costume for this.
Well of course it is

Whodunnit!
'Er indoors did it, that's who dunnit!
Acting all innocent all night, and she was bang to rights all along the little tinker. And not one of us got it right either, which wasn't surprising with all the red herrings flying about all night. Anyway, as a confessed jewel thief and murderer she should be banged up for 20 years with no privileges in my opinion. Come to think of it, she already is
.
Great night with lots of laughs, and some really nice food provided by the Hillsborough Hotel yet again too.
Huge thanks to Neil for officiating and an especial thanks to the people who came from far and wide to join us tonight. You're all stars!
Can't finish without a moan for once though I'm afraid. I'm a bit perplexed as to why some people who had their names down to attend couldn't let us know they weren't coming? We know the weather wasn't too good, but surely the phones were still working weren't they?
We arrange a lot of things on trust in this group, but perhaps this might have to change if we end up out of pocket from this social

It was fun, food was excellent (as usual). If you cancel in time then wouldn't expect to pay but as it was it seems they catered for everyone booked and so everyone should expect to pay - unfortunate but fair.

Re: Murder Mystery - Friday 18th January
So I was the murderer and a jewel thief....whats wrong with that, the woman had it coming to her
It was a good night and there was some great fancy dress on show, loved the top hats.
The food was yummy once again, never a bad meal there.

Re: Murder Mystery - Friday 18th January
I was gutted when we couldn't get off our road because of the frozen snow as I was really looking forward to this.
I'm really pleased you all had a great time, & I hope some of you managed to eat a few second portions of pie & peas!
I wholeheartedly agree about the trust regarding payment - surely everyone wants an easy-going group of walking friends,
not a formal group full of rules & regulations.
It is only common courtesy to inform people when you cannot attend something. Hopefully this was just a blip & won't happen again.
Even though I phoned you to let you know we were snowed in, I still expect to pay for the food as it had been ordered, & as I said on the phone, I'll pay you on the walk on Thursday.

Thanks Steve and co for organising a great night, shame the cast out numbered the audience
. Thought Andrea was the murderer early on but was thrown off course by a few red herrings, should have stuck to our first thought. Food was lovely and plentiful but could'nt manage seconds. Rob and Anne

Thanks to Steve and Co for organising a great night, well done everyone who part and kept the audience guessing right till the end. As other have said the food was lovely, a big well done to the pub. A really enjoyable night, just a shame the weather prevented a people from coming.
