Wharncliffe Crags - 20th January

Post  Admin on Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:26 am

Sunday 20th January - Wharncliffe Crags
A steady 9 mile walk, with just one gradual climb and a small hill at the end, and some of the best views in Sheffield from the top of the Crags along the way. Greno Woods are also part of this walk, and also a section of it is along an old roman road. The walk should take around 4 and a half hours toi complete.

Details:-
Meet outside The Old Harrow, Main Street Grenoside, S35 8PP at 10.0 for a 10.15 start. Plenty of on-street parking close by, please do not park in the pub car park

**Footnote**
A carvery style buffet has been arranged at the Old Harrow for after the walk. With gateau to follow the cost will be just £4 per person, but must be booked by 9am saturday at the latest.

Just putting me & Lynne down for this, Tyler's not coming. Can't understand how she'd sooner go sledging than walking!!!

My last walk for a while due to repair work and I'm really looking forward to it. Walking in snow is a bit special at the best of times, but walking in an area that has special memories from my childhood, and is also my favourite part of Sheffield makes it all the better for me. (Also got grub at the end!)

Dont worry Lizzie, I got many more later on

So nice to see 20 people turn up for this snowy walk, it was a good one.
The meal afterwards in the Old Harrow was well worth the money.
Thankyou to Max for the whiskey, just what the Dr ordered to keep out the cold.

Whose GPS should we believe today, Chris at 9.6 or Dez at 9.9? Just can't trust technology can you??????

A cracking walk in decent weather (again!) and completed at an unbelievable pace - 4.5 hours including stops is quite a pace for a group of 20.

I can't speak too highly of The Old Harrow for the meal they provided after the walk. It was delicious and great value for £4 including a dessert. Don't know how they do it at that price.

Thanks to everybody for their best wishes today, it's much appreciated. And don't worry, I'll be back before you know it Laughing

A wonderful walk, all the better for the snow. Very pretty too. I'm so glad I went on it cos I nearly cancelled (being a wuss!) but the miles just flew by! Thanks to Steve and Andrea for organising this and the meal after which was just the job on a cold day. Very Happy
