Burbage and Stanage - Sunday 11th May

Post  Admin on Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:55 am

Sunday 11th May - Burbage & Stanage
2 lots of rocks in one with this walk which as well as covering Burbage and Stanage also touches on Hathersage in a 9/10 mile walk which has quite a lot of ascent, and should take around 5.5 hours to complete.

Details:
Meet at Burbage Bridge, Ringinglow Rd, S32 1BR at 10.00 for 10.15 start. There is a free car park, and also roadside parking next to the bridge.

We can fit you in again Kay. Well, actually we didn't "fit you in" last time did we, but the thought was there!

Anyway, 9.30 at the end of your road, and a couple of minutes later at the same place as last time for Natalia, if that's ok?

PS: I've just misread the name of the place(s) where we will be walking as "Carnage" - do you think that's bad?...

Hi, I wanted to come on this but did a 10mile run at Derwent this morning and appear to have hurt my calf, rather a lot, so don't think a 10mile walk is advisable. See you soon

Perhaps your calf is telling you something?  Crying or Very sad

Give it a wee rub, as someone once said.

Thanks Natalia. Steve I already had a massage and acupuncture booked for Monday which is really lucky, just need to work on leg instead of arm. Enjoy the walk !

Wow, what a fantastic walk that was, the views were amazing, even when it was raining. Thank you to Steve and Enid, I'm sure everyone enjoyed it.
Archie wasn't keen on having a bath but is now fast asleep on a blanket on the settee while his Dad is in the bath.
Really looking forward to the homemade caramel slice after tea, that we bought at North Lees house .

I've got to say that today's rain was the sort of rain you don't mind on a walk if that doesn't sound stupid! Short showers lasting about 10 minutes were bearable, especially when we could see sunshine following on in the distance.

Great views all day and not a lot of people knocking about made it a great day all round.

Cheers again to Steve and Enid for leading us round, it's much appreciated when people offer to do this. I probably enjoyed today more than any walk in a long while because I wasn't having to concentrate on following instructions all day for once.

If anybody reading this would also like to help me out by leading the odd walk now and again please get in touch. I am always more than happy to let someone else take over.

Thank you Steve and Enid for an amazing walk. Thank you Steve for predicting when exactly the rain will set in, and how long it will last - I was very impressed!!! Do you practice fortune-telling? I would like to book an appointment, if possible... Maybe we can do that on the next walk? Maybe we could do the same walk some time in the summer? That would be wonderful...

Burbage/Stanage walk

Post  Enid Wood on Tue May 13, 2014 9:15 pm

Thanks all for your feedback guys. Yes we enjoyed it with good company and even with the weather!
We'll keep trying to pop an odd walk in Steve - we've done plenty over the years so we'll get our thinking caps on.

Steve says he's no fortune-teller Natalia - just saw the clouds coming our way but if you want you can come into his 'fortune telling booth' anytime!

See you all soon.

Enid n Steve
