Five Edges - Sunday 25th May

Post  Admin on Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:51 am

Sunday 25th May - Five Edges
Birchen, White, Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow are the edges which are all linked up on this 9.5 walk which surprisingly has just a 200 metres height gain, and which should take 4hrs 15 mins to complete.

Details:
Meet at 10.00 for 10.15 start at The Robin Hood Inn situated 2 miles east of Baslow on the A619. Postcode for the pub is DE45 1PQ. There is a pay and display car park next door to the pub.

The weather forecast is for isolated showers Sunday at the moment, so it shouldn't be too bad if they're as good as their word!

What a lovely walk that was today, great to put all those edges together into a great route. The views from on high down over the valley were fantastic. It was nice to see some faces today that I haven't seen for a while, it was also lovely to meet Ewa, I hope you enjoyed the walk and that we'll see you again soon. A big thank you to Steve and Andrea for the lift, it was very much appreciated.

Thought we'd seen the last of the mud for a while, but alas not, as recent rain gave us a bit of a quagmire today  Crying or Very sad . But at least the rain wasn't as bad as we were expecting, and it soon petered out after dinner thank goodness. The dinner stop and the shelter from the rain at the Grouse Inn was most welcome, but I thought we were going to get chucked out at one point thanks to some indiscreet noshing by one or two of our group  Rolling Eyes .
Well done to Neil today for winning the raffle and a big welcome to Ewa on her first walk today. Hopefully you're not too tired tonight!

I think that was a bit longer and tougher than expected but it was a lovely walk, one to do again on a sunny day - Steve could you perhaps order warm & sunny weather next time! I actually don't think the weather spoilt it, we were very lucky considering the original forecast and I enjoyed catching up with people

Glad Ewa enjoyed her first walk and hope, that she will join us on many more.

There was so much mud today, but the wanderers can cope with anything and the sun finally came out for us in the end.
