The Dragon Lover - 19th November - The story telling @ The Fat Cat

Post  colin R on Mon Nov 18, 2013 8:43 pm

It's dark. It's cold. Winter is close and the year is drawing to an end. This will be the last meeting of The Story Forge in 2013, but goodness we will be ending the year in style!

“From your eyes fierce sparks fly. From your mouth a tongue of flame leaps.”

Next Tuesday we have an evening of stories and music from A Spell in Time, who will be performing their show The Dragon Lover.

Welcome to a world of dangerous delights where shapes shift and dragons dwell. But some dragons wear their skins on the inside, and they lure you in to a realm of sweet seduction, magical enchantment and fatal attraction.

Interweaving storytelling, ritual and evocative music, A Spell In Time presents a deliciously dark jewel from the primal and poetic heart of Bulgarian myth and folklore. They are Moni Sheehan and Ivor Davies. And it's going to be stonking.

For adults and over 14s

Spread the word! Bring people along! Turn up promptly to get a good seat!

And if you can't make next Tuesday but would still like some Dragon Lover action, you have another chance to see Spell in Time on Wednesday at Bank Street Arts:

What? The Story Forge is an open mic Storytelling club based around tales from the floor with guest spots every other month. Come along with a tale to share or just to sup good beer in fine company and listen to the glorious cascade of words. Folk tales, urban myths, riddles, the odd song and poem, it's a verbal banquet in hot narrative sauce. On open floor nights we ask for a £3 donation, or £4 when we have a guest.

Where? We're back to our regular venue, upstairs in The Fat Cat, on Alma Street, Kelham Island. More about them here:

The pub is a short meander from the Shalesmoor Tram Stop, with parking in the pub car park.

When? The third Tuesday of every month, with guests every other month. We aim to start at 8.00pm, so turn up a little before that! Tim and the other MCs will be taking turns to introduce people and set up chairs and we will be eager to sign you up for a spot to tell in. So let us know you're interested on the night and we'll find you a slot. Remember to subscribe on facebook so we can send you up to the minute information, or check out the programme on [Only admins are allowed to see this link] (Yes, it's out of date at the moment. I'm working on it!) You can follow Tim Ralphs on twitter if that means anything to you, he mostly prattles about storytelling.

Who? You, me and everyone we know! Tales from regulars, beginners, strangers and friends, and the warmest crowd of listeners in Storytelling. Can there possibly be anywhere you'd rather be?

cheers colin
