Loxley Valley - Sunday 12th January

Post  Admin on Tue Nov 12, 2013 5:58 am

Loxley Valley - Sunday 12th January
A new walk in a familiar area takes us through historic Loxley Valley, and through the hamlets of Storrs and Dungworth before returning to the start. A hilly 7.5-8.0 miles in total, which should take us 4 hours to complete.

Details:-
Meet outside the Admiral Rodney Inn, 592 Loxley Rd, Sheffield, S6 6RU at 10.0 for 10.15 start. Please do not park in the pub car park, there is plenty of on-street parking close by

We are not horsing around! I am not horsing around. I am planning strategically, ahead of time -- before boarding the return flight. A pity you won't be there on Sunday Mark, because I will be bringing wonderful chocolates but there may not be enough for everybody!! I am bringing them for selfish reasons - I liked the box so much, and I would like to keep the box.

Is there a point at which this walk could be cut back to the short version, for anyone who does not want to walk round the Dam Flask ? scratch

Yes, quite simple! When we get to the dam, the route I have leads to the right to come out on Loxley Road and then on to Stacey Bank for the last bit. I was thinking of going left at the dam and doing a circuit of the dam, adding about 2 miles/45 minutes. It would be a good idea for there to be a choice though.

Yet another lovely area not far from the centre of Sheffield with some outstanding views, and with decent weather yet again I think this was a really good walk.

Nice to see Dez again, and I think it worked very well splitting the walk up half-way so we could have shorter and longer versions. We can always do this again on future walks if needs be.

Got to recommend Our Cow Molly farm too. Ice cream in January - you can't beat it!

I've never been to the farm where they make our cow Molly before, but I will go again  Smile

Its always nice to walk around Bradfield and Loxley, even when its through mud !

Well done to Anne for winning the draw.

Nice walk, made nicer by winning the drawer (money tucked away for a walking related purchase).
Had a nice cup of tea in Loxley Nurseries afterwards, definitely recommend them for hot drinks
