Hope - Sunday 1st December

Post  Admin on Mon Sep 16, 2013 4:39 am

Hope - Sunday 1st December
An 8 mile walk of great variety which takes us on an old Roman road from Hope to the Ladybower Reservoir, and then along the south shore of the reservoir before returning across fields and the village of Thornhill to the start. No great hills and just one steep descent make this a relatively easy walk which should take around 5 hours to complete.

Details
Meet in the pay and display car park on the main road in Hope at 10.0 for 10.15 start. There is free on street parking in the village

Can I be the first one to put my name down, or is this bordering on the indecent? uuhh  I do not yet know if I will need a lift -- I think I will know soon, though.

I am already back!! (I sent the previous message from Boston) -- and if the lift option is still an option, could you maybe tell me where, and when, I should be (I do not want you to make a special effort to pick me up)? I don't think Roger is coming because he hasn't posted anything yet, and I wouldn't want to be left behind.... Thank you!

Thank you Steve. I'll be at the "York Corner" earlier so that you don't have to park anywhere waiting for me.

Yes Linda, you can pick Natalia up if you want. I think it would be fine to leave the time and pick up point the same just in case Natalia doesn't see that she's got a new chauffeur!

Lovely walk, especially in the morning sunshine, and some great laughs all day too.

Can't get my head round why there was less than half the number of people we got last week though, despite there being much better weather and a nicer area to walk! Perhaps the lure of a pub meal after walk last week is the answer, cos surely folks weren't Xmas shopping today :shame:rather than doing what those of us who turned up enjoyed hikersunny 98

Were you a bit warm Anne, we were boiling all day!

Well done incidentally - I presume you completed it.

Well done Anne cheers

It was a beautiful day today, the sun in the morning was a great treat and very welcome. Who would have thought it was the 1st of December.

A great group of people on this walk, lots of laughs as always and a few tears, which all added to an enjoyable walk.

Thank you to Mark for entertaining Archie during our dinner stop:bliss: , and for carrying my foliage Very Happy

Must agree with Andrea 1st of December and your walking round in a t shirt, couldn't have asked for better weather. Lovely walk with stunning views over Edale, thanks Archie and Mark for our lunch stop entertainment. Cheers everyone for a smashing day.

I wanted to comment in the form of a poem, but didn't get beyond the rhyme of "walks"/"talks" and "whether"/"nice weather". So - in prose: Thank you for another great Sunday!!!
