Hartington - Sunday 20th October

Post  Admin on Sat Aug 17, 2013 9:20 am

Hartington - Sunday 20th October
Historic remains and quiet villages are what we’ll find in this eight mile walk in the Upper Dove Valley. Starting from Hartington the route takes us past the remains of Pilsbury Castle on our way to the halfway point at Crowdecote, where we cross the River Dove into Staffordshire to make our return back to the start. Quite a few ascents on this walk as well as numerous stiles along the way too. Total walk time should be 4 and a half hours.

Details:-
Meet outside The Cheese Shop, Hartington, Derbyshire, SK17 0AL at 10.15 for 10.30 start. There are car parks in Hartington as well as plenty of on-street parking

Really looking forward to this walk which has some fantastic views all the way round. On top of that, there's the cheese shop too which sells some really interesting different cheeses.

Do you want a lift Natalia?

Hi guys,

Long time no see. I'd like to come on this walk with you. I'm off to Kenya to build a school in February and will also be climbing mount Kenya while I'm there so I need some strenuous walks! Be expected to get pimped for donations Smile so money for cheese, 50/50 and my charity pot...heavy pockets!

Can give lifts from Killamarsh area if anyone is coming from that direction.

Kate

Yeah well, I've been called a few things in my life but never a woman before! Glad it made you all laugh although the insult was made seriously to me shame .

Yes it was a good laugh today and the views were great and even the rain held off until we were on the way home which was a bonus.

Off now to eat some wild garlic cheese and biscuits bought today at the Hartington cheese shop before I "do" my nails and try out on or two of Andrea's bras. dance

Thanks Steve for leading a smashing walk, views down the valley were stunning. Glad me and Anne did'nt do an extention this week because as we were sat at the duck pond the heavens opened. Steve i hope you find a hook for the bras to hang on, if not look right under your nose:lol: Sorry could'nt resist.Smile

Fantastic walks with amazing views. The muddy hills took some negotiating but what a laugh to see each other slipping all over the place Laughing
The jokes about the "woman with the hooked nose" will carry on for months, if not years Very Happy
