Fox House - Sunday 25th August

Post  Steve M on Sun Jul 14, 2013 8:16 pm

Sunday 25th August - Fox House

This is a walk not to be missed as it includes so many well known beauty spots. Starting from the Fox House, the walk takes us through the Longshaw estate and along White Edge before dropping down to Grindleford station. From here we climb through Padley Gorge until we reach Burbage Bridge from where we walk along Burbage Edge to Upper Barbage Bridge which we cross to walk over Higgar Tor and Carl Wark before returning to the start. This is a 9 mile walk which should take around 5 and a half hours to complete, is quite stony in parts, and can get muddy after heavy rain.

Details:-

Meet at Fox House, Hathersage Rd, Longshaw, Sheffield, S11 7TY at 10.0 for 10.15 start. Please do not park in the pub car park, there is ample parking on the main road or in the public car park.

I am coming, too. I can catch a bus to the Fox House - I know where it is, so, for once, I need not trouble the other colleagues for a lift!! Razz Razz

Natalia I know you can get the bus but it is no trouble if you want a lift. I will pick you up at Broomhill shops outside Boots at 9.20. Let me know on this site, if possible, that's if you see this message. Linda R

What a lovely walk today with a great group of people.
My legs are aching after all the climbing down the rocks, but the views made up for it.

What a great, wonderful, amazing walk. Thank you. And it was my first EVER British ice-cream, in my whole life. The sights today reminded me of Peter Weir's _Picnic at Hanging Rock_ ....

Really enjoyed the walk and the company today with ever changing views in an area of the Peaks that I never get tired of seeing. Even the fact that half the country was up there didn't spoil the day!

It was good that half the country was there - they would not have brought the ice-cream van otherwise!

As ice creams go, a whipped ice cream isn't the most desired ice cream there is, but as your first ever British cornet, it's a start!
