Longshaw and Padley Gorge - Thursday 15th August

Post  Steve M on Sun Jul 14, 2013 8:13 pm

Thursday 8th August - Longshaw & Padley Gorge
Our walk takes us through Longshaw Country Park and Padley Gorge via Longshaw Lodge, White Edge Moor and Grindleford Station. Whilst making our way through the ancient woodland which covers Padley Gorge we will also walk alongside the Burbage Brook babbling over the rocks in small falls which add to the beauty. This is a fairly easy 5 mile walk which should take just over 2 hours to complete.

Details:-
Meet at Fox House, Hathersage Rd, Longshaw, Sheffield, S11 7TY at 10.0. Please do not park in the pub car park, there is ample parking on the main road or in the public car park.

The Fox house is most likely to be the place we will be eating, then we don't have to drive anywhere else ....I hope they sell cake hearts

The Grouse Inn does good food and is quite close to fox house, that gives those of you doing the walk another option. Enjoy the walk.

The station café is about half way round, and I think the plan is to stop there for a coffee and to use the toilet facilities. Also, the Fox House isn't expensive as you think. We did a midweek walk a few weeks ago and ate there, and they have a fixed price menu at lunch time where everything is @ a fiver, and mine was excellent. Have a look at [Only admins are allowed to see this link] and click on the fixed price attachment.

It really was a lovely walk, thankfully the weather was kind to us as it gets very muddy round there.

It was nice to hear Linda and Barbara's stories of living in the cottage by Padley Gorge when they were children.

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came today, and to Janet on her first walk, hope you will join us again soon Smile

Just to mention I didn't have any cake Sad ... but the food was nice at The Fox House afterwards.
