Congratulations Sam!

Post  Steve M on Tue Jun 04, 2013 8:16 am

Just had word that Sammurray completed his 100km challenge this weekend in the Yorkshire Dales, which is an amazing achievement. Those people who were on our Dales trip last Spring will recall that we came across an Oxfam 100km 2 day charity walk - well, it's an annual event, and this is where Sam was this weekend. Here's what he says about it..............

Hi everyone.

I just wanted to let you know that I completed the charity walk yesterday along with my colleagues. Two members had to stop at 40miles due to injury (leg strains and lots of blisters) but the rest of us choose to continue and having slowed down to help the injured get to the checkpoint, we managed to cross the finish line (62mi) in 30hrs 38min, just over the 30hr target.

I’m going to take a couple of weeks to rest up as I gained a few blisters of my own and bruised the underside of both big-toes, but will try to get to a walk later in the month or July.

Please could I just give my thanks to all the group members for their well-wishing. The support from everyone both before, during and after the event has been great and really helped me to carry on even when I was about to quit.

Keep on walking!

Sam
