Bakewell - Sunday 21st April

Post  Admin on Mon Mar 11, 2013 9:38 am

Bakewell - Sunday 21st April
Bakewell is always a good place to start and finish a walk, and this week we're repeating a walk we did from there a while since and which takes us through Over Haddon, Youlgreave and Bradford Dale. Nine miles in total, there quite a few steep descents and ascents on this one, and the riverside paths in particular can get very muddy after rain.

Details:-
Meet in The Square, Bakewell opposite The Queens Arms, DE45 1DS at 10.00 for 10.15 start. There is plenty of pay and display parking in the centre of Bakewell.

Can you be opposite Bramalls Goldroom on Herries Rd at 9.05? You can park on the footpath there a bit further up.

Thankyou to Anne and Robert for leading the walk, I really enjoyed it.
It was so nice to go back to Bradford Dale I haven't been there for years.
I cant believe that I forgot to put our sandwichers in the rucksack....again shame but if I hadn't then Steve wouldn't have had any pork pie clap
Wasn't it nice to do a walk and not come across any mud, well apart from that little bit near Bakewell.

Thanks to all you kind folk who took pity on this poor starving man who yet again was left with no food today . Sad As this is the fourth time this has happened a Scarborough warning has been given to the good lady, who is now under no illusions that she MUST DO BETTER . Mad

A grand walk today through some lovely little villages, and delightful dales, in my favourite part of Derbyshire. A bonus was that the forecasted rain never came, and the change of route that A & R put in for us was a good idea too. Thanks a lot guys for today.

Bakewell is always nice for a post walk drink, but the pub we went in The Peacock might not see this person again at the prices they charge. £4.70 for a pot of tea and a lime and soda? Outrageous . affraid

Glad you enjoyed the walk as much as we did, must agree Bradford Dale is a lovely area to walk. Glad we did'nt know that a certain person had forgot to pack your sarnies before we ate ours Laughing I'm sure Anne would have given hers up for you Laughing
Could'nt have hoped for a drier mudless walk apart from the bit that certain people found at the end, i won't mention no names but check there boots next time they walk.
Nice to welcome 3 new lady walkers hope to see them again soon.

Really lovely walk, Bradford Dale very pretty and I liked the variety of landscape overall. Poor starving man?? Having eaten everyones sandwiches and Chris's pork pie, he then found masses of his own food to eat but it didn't count as it was 'afters'. It was Andrea and the donors I felt sorry for - by the way Chris you need to bring a sachet of brown sauce next time! laff
