Ashover - Sunday 7th October

Post  Admin on Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:46 pm

Sunday 7th October - Ashover
A completely new walk for the group in a new area too! Commencing from Ogston reservoir, the walk takes us in a circular route through several small hamlets and Ashover itself on a 7 mile route along mainly field paths and tracks. A total height gain of 289 metres on this walk which should take about 4 and a quarter hours to complete.

Details:-
Meet at a small car park opposite Ogston Sailing Club at 10.0 for 10.15 start. The address for the sailing club is Quarry Lane, Woolley Moor, Ashover, DE55 6FN.

We can divert ourselves to pick you up on Chesterfield Road unless someone else from S8 is coming. Let's see what happens, and we'll contact you Saturday if there are no other offers Very Happy

Re: Ashover - Sunday 7th October

Well that was a belting walk - one of the best we've done for a while. There was so much to see with great views all day and some lovely houses for 'er indoors to purr over too Rolling Eyes .

Even if the 7 miles ended up as 8 and a half I don't think anybody minded cos the weather was so nice for the time of year. What a lot of mud though! And such difficult stiles too. Makes no wonder the expected 3 hours 18 minutes took 5 hours Embarassed

Some thank you's today are needed. Neil and Dez for navigating. Paul for looking after the rear. Kay for the muddy entertainment. Tyler for being Tyler. Everyone who helped me get my crocked leg over the stiles.

Final thought. Should we ban Tyler from having a go on the draw? Wink

What a smashing walk, it was wonderful to walk in an area i've never walked before and to see such beautiful scenery.
Stiles a plenty there were, I stopped counting after twenty lol, well done to all for getting over them.

It was great to catch up with some more familiar faces. I hope Michelle and Lynne have stopped fighting over which house is who's, lol.

Thanks to Graeme for the company in the car. Six hours, for a 7.5 mile walk, it must have been longer didn't it?

A really enjoyable day.
